Wonder Lab in Beijing

National Museum of China in Beijing from January 11, 2019 to March 17, 2019

HEART and crafts is the instigator and organizer of the WONDER LAB exhibition.

Bringing together 15 of the most talented French craftsmen, the exhibition offers a renewed look at contemporary creation. From silverware to ceramics, from plums to the work of scales, glass, leather, straw, paper or textiles, the excellence and diversity of French crafts have, for the first time, been given to the international public.

Resolutely contemporary, the exhibition was born from the meeting between the work and the career of 15 French designers – masters of art or craftsmen distinguished for their degree of excellence. It takes the visitor into an unprecedented aesthetic experience, bringing together know-how, materials, paths of life, men and women who have chosen to prolong gestures, reinvent and transmit them, and which combine vocation and tradition with innovation.

The artists who share this human adventure are the scale designer Christian Bonnet, the plumassier artist Nelly Saunier, the plump printer Laurent Nogues, the heraldic engraver Gérard Desquand, the glassmaker Emmanuel Barrois, the goldsmith Roland Daraspe, the heliograver Fanny Boucher, the fanlist Sylvain Le Guen, the straw-branding craftsman Lison de Caunes, the dinandier Nathanael le Berre, the creator of the wallpaper , the pleasing Pietro Seminelli, the parasolerie designer Michel Heurtault, the leather goods manufacturer Serge Amoruso and the ceramicist Jean Girel.

In echo and extension of the exhibition, meetings with masters of art, lectures with experts, workshops for the youngest visitors are offered to the public.

Japan was its first destination, with the Tokyo National Museum in 2017. Its next destination is China, where it will be presented in 2019 before continuing its journey in Asia and around the world.
